The Department of Science and Technology works to promote art, science, craft, and technology throughout the empire.  Many research projects currently ongoing in Diking are sponsored by the department, and it is also one of the primary agencies of the federal government responsible for investigating natural and human-caused phenomena.

Coland Institute of Science and Technology

The Department of Science and Technology is associated with the Institute through mutual goals of advancing higher education and research, and the department funds many of the institute's activities through teaching and research grants.  Founded in the summer of 2004 and matriculating its first class that fall, CIST is part of a larger plan to establish a university in Coland.  Two dedicated, learned  professors teach a wide range of courses in this new facility with state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories.

Hon. Joel Orge, Secretary of Science and Technology

Mr. Orge is uniquely qualified to lead the Department of Science and Technology.  Trained as an engineer, he has also spent several years in public service.  He served as Viceroy of Chris from the early 1990s until Parliament granted Air City commonwealth status in 1997.  He also served in the House of Lords from 1996-2004.  Having resigned as Viceroy in 1997, he returned to the sciences and served as one of the chief engineers for Astrodome City/Octan Extensions/New Octan/the National Defense Office.  Mr. Orge was named Secretary of the newly-created Department of Science and Technology in 2004.  He very much enjoys his corner office in the Executive Office Building.
