Flag:  on a green field, clockwise from the top fly corner, the arms of the Black Knights, the Dragon Masters, and the Royal Knights—Diking’s three most influential clans.  In the top hoist corner, the Monarch’s standard.  The flag code allows Parliament to add the arms of additional clans upon petition.  (This flag adorns the home page.)

Background:  Landforms created in Great Cataclysm of 1974.  Although the islands were visited in the late 1980s, the first permanent settlers arrived Christmas Day, 1990.

Time zone:  GMT -10.  There is no legal provision for Daylight Savings Time.

Airspace:  Diking exercises control over airspace up to the elevation of 60 nm over all land area and over water area extending 24 nm from each point of shoreline.  The government of Diking recognizes space as free for international navigation but reserves the right to condemn and recycle any space junk it deems a navigational hazard or otherwise a blight. 

Climate:  Temperate Northern Hemisphere.  Snows from November to March, rainy springs, cool falls, and hot summers.  The Chain Archipelago is generally subtropical.

Terrain:  Tall mountain range forms a north-south spine on the main island.  Elsewhere in the interior, river valleys cut through plains, while the coast is usually not rocky.  General vegetations include alpine forest, grassland, oak savannah, and forest.  The outlying islands are low-lying and covered in grasses and palm trees.

Executive Branch:  chief of state and head of government:  Emperor Corey I; Crown Prince Corey II.  Office of the Monarch is hereditary; Cabinet members are appointed by the Monarch.

Legislative Branch:  bicameral Parliament divided into House of Ministers, elected annually by popular vote, and House of Lords, appointed as needed by the Monarch according to the Constitution.  The House of Ministers elects the Prime Minister to be its speaker, and the House of Lords elects the Chancellor to be its president pro tempore.

Judical Branch:  Supreme Court consisting of four Justices and one Chief Justice appointed by the Monarch and approved by the House of Lords; Federal District Court judges appointed in the same manner.  Each Viceroyalty and State has its own judicial system to uphold its own laws and ordinances.

Political parties and leaders:  none.  Members of Parliament have typically aligned themselves along viceroyalty lines.
