the Supreme Court

The Supreme Court is Diking's highest court and came into being when the Constitution was ratified in 1996.  Four Justices and one Chief Justice serve on the bench for life.  The Supreme Court is the court of first instance for constitutional matters and suits regarding laws, executive orders, and government actions.  It is also the court of last appeal for civil and criminal cases that come up from the lesser courts, including Viceroyalty and Federal District courts.

The Federal Judiciary also has a system of District Courts.  These courts try criminal and civil cases that arise under federal law.  There is a court district for each viceroyalty; the Courts for Corey and Robert meet in Coland, and the Court for Chris meets in Callahorn.
